Developed independently in Germany and England in the 1830s, it is a free-reed instrument such as the accordion and the harmonica.The sound is created from the expanding and contracting bellows and the keys on both ends. Various versions are used in classical, tango and polka music, and tradicional music of Ireland, England and South Africa.
